This winter we are launching our first Here & There product, "It's a WONDERful Series", featuring Spokane!

Melding the Here & There logo and tagline with simple aesthetic artwork and uplifting stories to reflect the shining moments of Spokane's history and culture.

Garbage Goat illustrated character

Pavillion

Sister Paula Turnbull, the "welding nun", unknowingly created Spokane's honorary pet for the World's Fair - Expo '74. It was the first time an environmental theme was adopted, and Garbage Goat continues the lesson of keeping your park, your home, clean.

Kid

What youth isn't fun, curious, and occasionally (sometimes always) bored? That's Kid for you! Why "Kid"? There was an attempt to name the Garbage Goat, but Sister Turnbull elected to keep its name to reflect its profession, this is honored by Kid simply being a kid.

Looff Carrousel

Spokane's Looff Carrousel arrived in 1909, but became the closest neighbor to Garbage Goat's grotto in 1975. The latest restoration of the menagerie and a new building was completed in 2018.

Green Bluff

Many would feel autumn in Spokane is incomplete without a trip to one of the farms on Green Bluff. Pumpkin picking, apple cider, tractor rides, corn mazes, and, of course, pumpkin donuts - the fun is endless for everyone!

Mt. Spokane draws in skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, cross country skiers, and now flying-sledding kid goats!

Bloomsday

Don Kardong started Bloomsday in 1977. This Spokane tradition outlived the 70s running craze and year after year, rain or shine or snow, Bloomies of all ages and shapes continue participating in this 12km road race.

Hoopfest

Spokane's nickname went from the Lilac City (which will always stay true) to Hooptown USA (which is also very true) in 2019. Between Gonzaga University's renown basketball teams and Hoopfest, the largest
3-on-3 basketball tournament in the nation, there is little guesswork as to why the name change.
